Giving Back: LFC Boston’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive

‘Tis the Season for Giving!

Nothing is better than seeing kids’ faces light up during the holidays while unwrapping presents. This December, LFC Boston is sponsoring a Toy Drive for Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD).

Established in 1962, Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD)
is Boston’s official anti-poverty agency and services over 85,000 low-income
Greater Boston residents. Their annual toy drive has been in existence for over 30 years and during that time they have been able to donate toys to thousands of underprivileged children in the Boston area.

The toy drive is an important yearly effort that allows us to bring a little
extra cheer to many families who otherwise may not have had the financial
ability to provide for their families at this very important time of the year.

The launch of our toy drive will be at the upcoming LFC Boston Ugly Sweater Holiday Party on Dec. 6 at the Phoenix Landing, 5-9 p.m. You will learn more details about the Toy Drive and select a child’s wish list at this event.

Toy donations will be accepted during the following LFC matches:

  • Tue, Dec. 9 vs. Basel
  • Sun, Dec. 14 vs. Manchester United
  • Wed, Dec. 17 vs. Bournemouth

If you are unable to get to the Phoenix Landing but are interested in sponsoring a child, please contact Kristine McKenna, LFC Boston’s Charity and Outreach Coordinator at

By Kevin Koczwara

Liverpool announced this morning that the club has agreed to a deal in principal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign 20-year-old midfielder Emre Can. The deal has been in the works for weeks, but today the club announced that the player’s release clause had been met and the player is ready to  move to Anfield next season, but before officially making him a member of the squad the club needs to wait for the proper documentation to be completed to officially announce the midfielder’s arrival.

The Guardian reports the transfer price is £9.75 million and that the deal will be finished on July 1.

Fabio Borini Hopes to Stay With Liverpool

By Kevin Koczwara

Fabio Borini is Brendan Rodgers’ first signing as Liverpool manager. He was a top-priority for Rodgers during the summer of 2012, after he was appointed, and the forward made it known he was determined to repay the manager’s faith by skipping the break he was allowed after taking part in the Euros that summer with Italy.

Things didn’t work out as planned for the former Chelsea youth player with Liverpool. Injuries hampered his first season and then he went out on loan last year. None of this has deterred the 23-year-old, though — not even the rumors that he could soon be leaving. Instead, Borini has said he is determined to make his mark on Liverpool and convince Rodgers he is a vital part of his squad.

Report: Lallana Told Southampton to Let Him Go

By Kevin Koczwara

The Adam Lallana saga continues to roll on. Reports say that the Southampton midfielder has told the club he wants to leave St. Mary’s for a new challenge, which presumably means he wants to jump ship and join Liverpool after the World Cup.

Liverpool made a ‘take it or leave it’ offer last week of £25 million last week and it seems like the 27-year-old midfielder is keen on trying to force a move to Anfield.
