The last game of the season was also the last game ever for Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool team traveled to Craven Cottage on Sunday without Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger and Luis Suarez. Fringe players like Sebastian Coates, Jonjo Shelvey and Andre Wisdom all got the call to start from Rodgers. In stark contrast to the monotony of last weekend’s Merseyside derby, the days since have been filled with activity as first Alex Ferguson announced his decision to retire as manager of Manchester United at the end of the season and then Everton boss David Moyes was declared Fergie’s hand-picked successor.

In a week where Liverpool found themselves issuing statements for the conduct of Luis Suarez. The English media then decided to blow the incident out of all proportion with over the top coverage. Make no mistake, what Suarez done was wrong. It has no place on the pitch. He is however a footballer, not a contender for the Nobel Peace Prize.
