Expectations were high going into Saturdays game against Aston Villa. Paul Lambert’s side aren’t exactly supposed to be challenging for the top four based on their recent history so this was a game Brendan Rodgers would have hoped his Liverpool side could dispatch quite easily. Villa scored an early scrappy goal through Gabriel Agbonlahor and held on quite easily against a side void of ideas in the end.
Liverpool has reportedly put in a bid for Moreno last week and even included midfielder Suso as a makeweight in the deal, but nothing formal has been announced and Liverpool is still waiting to finalize a deal for the 21-year-old Spanish defender.
Liverpool’s long pursuit of a serviceable and reliable left back seems to be reaching its conclusion with Alberto Moreno’s move to Anfield almost complete.
The 21-year-old defender had a standout season at Sevilla, shining in both La Liga and the Europa League, and is reportedly close to finalizing a move to join the Premier League’s runner-ups this summer.
Liverpool’s interest in Alberto Moreno is real. The club views him as the team’s future left back, a position that has had a carousel of players try and claim that spot. Today, James Pearce at the Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool has finally handed an offer to Sevilla to secure the 21-year-old’s services.
Pearce claims the deal will include Spanish midfielder Susp going in the other direction as part of the deal.
