Report: Reds Table Final Offer for Lallana

By Kevin Koczwara

Liverpool is hoping their continued raid of Southampton continues. Up next on Liverpool’s radar is Adam Lallana, who is regarded to be one of Brendan Rodgers top transfer targets. The Reds have offered Southampton £25million for their club captain and hope he will follow Rickie Lambert to Anfield.

The Liverpool Echo reports that this is Liverpool’s final offer for the 26-year-old midfielder.

The ECHO understands the increased bid of £25million is a ‘take it or leave it’ offer with the Reds having no intention of going higher than that figure. [Liverpool ECHO]

Liverpool had an initial offer of 20 million rejected by Southampton for Lallana. They have upped the offer but do not want to meet the 30 million valuation that Southampton has on the midfielder. The Reds had hoped to have the deal done before Lallana heads to Miami with the rest of Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the final preparations for the World Cup in Brazil, which is just a few weeks away. Liverpool is running out of time, though.

Part of the hold-up is because Southampton will have to give 25 percent of the fee to Bournemouth because of a sell on fee. The Echo reports if this final offer doesn’t work then Liverpool will move on to different targets.

If that final offer doesn’t trigger a breakthrough in negotiations then Liverpool will walk away and turn their attentions to other targets such as Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Guardian reports that Tottenham is still interested in Lallana, so Southampton is not short of suitors. But they will have to deal with Daniel Levy, who is tough negotiator.
