The season ended for Liverpool in a very low profile fashion against already relegated Queens Park Rangers. The last game of the season was also the last game ever for Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. The Kop sang his praises throughout the game on Sunday and warmly applauded every Liverpool player on their lap around Anfield following the game.

In stark contrast to the monotony of last weekend’s Merseyside derby, the days since have been filled with activity as first Alex Ferguson announced his decision to retire as manager of Manchester United at the end of the season and then Everton boss David Moyes was declared Fergie’s hand-picked successor.

The whole affair makes for strange times as both United and the Toffees prepare to bid farewell to their long-term supremos.

In a week where Liverpool found themselves issuing statements for the conduct of Luis Suarez. The English media then decided to blow the incident out of all proportion with over the top coverage. Make no mistake, what Suarez done was wrong. It has no place on the pitch. He is however a footballer, not a contender for the Nobel Peace Prize. There are more heinous acts carried out on the football pitch. The FA needs an overhaul as Kenny Dalglish wrote during the week.

Liverpool travels to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday in a veritable No Man’s Land in the English Premier League table. There is no threat of relegation, but similarly – after last weekend’s disappointing 0-0 draw with West Ham at Anfield – there is little chance of breaking into the top five to land a European spot for next season.
